HDR Explained

What is HDR?

HDR stands for high dynamic range. When you take a normal single photo it is possible to change the settings on the camera to emphasise the highlights or the lowlights or mid tones, but not all three.

HDR is achieved by ‘Bracketing’ multiple shots, which each emphasise the different areas of light and then combine them into 1 ‘HDR’ image that then has the detail of highlights, lowlights and midtones.
